More About Me

More about me Robbie Croy BACP Psychotherapist Counsellor.jpeg

Thank you for taking some time to learn a bit more about me.

My name is Robbie Croy and I’m a BACP registered practitioner. I have been in practice since 2019 and established Myriad Counselling & Psychotherapy Services in 2021. I hold an MSc with Distinction in Counselling from the University of Abertay, who are UK leaders in Pluralistic counselling training and research. I’m also certified to provide both online and telephone-based therapies having completed NCS and ACTO-accredited training.

Before qualifying as a therapist, I worked as a support worker for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, was a bookseller and also earned a BA Hons. Degree (1st Class) in Philosophy from the University of Stirling. I’ve called Edinburgh my home for most of my life but I love to travel and enjoy exploring new places with a camera. A cup of coffee and a walk by the water are my go-to activities when I need a bit of self-care and practising my guitar-playing has been a long-term creative outlet for me.

Choosing the right therapist is an important part of the therapy journey for a client. The relationship we build will be our vehicle for moving towards positive change and this aspect of therapy is more alchemy than an exact science. It’s important that you see some of who I am and gauge for yourself if you’ll feel comfortable working together.

‘Different people need different types of help at different times’

My work with clients is based on the above sentiment, and to know what that means for you, we collaborate openly to find a helpful way forward. As your therapist it is my job to take all of the tools available to us in the profession and offer what is best suited to you at that point in time. Together, in a therapeutic relationship, we can unpack and make sense of what you need to find relief and bring positive change to your life.

I currently hold counselling positions with both Crisis Counselling and Wellbeing Scotland in addition to my private practice. My work is trauma-informed and I am committed to providing a service that’s radically inclusive and sensitive to all LGBTQIA+ identities.
